Food  +  Faith  +  Conversation

What’s Noomá anyway?

good food

faith thinking

great conversation

friendly space

Nooma is a friendly space for people to discuss faith, life, and everything in between. The conversation is friendly and illuminating, and of course, there’s great food, too. But beyond food and conversation, there’s sometimes poetry, spoken word, music, real-life stories, and more.

And in case you’re wondering, the word NOOMA comes from a phonetic spelling of the Greek word πνευμα (pneuma), meaning “wind or spirit.” It’s a word that is prominently featured in Christian spirituality. If you’d like to read more about this, please scroll towards the bottom of this page.

Nooma will launch in the autumn on the Spring of 2025, so RSVP for the launch party here. We can’t wait to see you.

Nooma Bible Study

More on Noomá

Noomá, the Spirit of God has been present since the very beginning. In the first book of the Bible we read ” … and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” We continue to see the role of the Spirit in the Bible in instructing and empowering God’s people to do God’s will.

The Spirit was also there at Pentecost, at the birth of the Church,  as Jesus promised. The biblical account tells us that when the Spirit came, it sounded like “the rushing of a mighty wind” amd that “what seemed like tongues of fire came to rest on each of them (that is, the early church). Then, wait for it, they began to speak in other languages they had never spoken before. The church wsa never the same after that. Quite amazing stuff.

FUN TO KNOW: That’s why we have the yellow accent in our logo – apart from helping with pronounciation –  it represents a tongue of fire as it descends on each person present. Now you know 🙂

Our Faculty

We have a faculty of well read deep thinkers who will help with moderating the conversations. Some are theolgians who teach the stuff, others are professionals and subject matter experts (on matters such as ethics for instance) Still others are, well, just normal people doing normal jobs like everyone of us. But they do have one thing in common; a love of God and a love of people.

A list of our initial faculty will be put here soon, and you’ll also get to meet them in person at the launch this autumn.
